Beautiful Weather This Week!

I've taken Emma and Sophie to play at the neighborhood pool Tuesday, Wednesday and today. The weather had been just beautiful and it was nice to recover from surgery poolside. ;)

I took this picture today at 4 o'clock.

NOTHING EXCITING....

Sophie was VERY proud that she finally figured out how to eat yogurt out of a tube! Can you guess which plate is Emma's and which one is Sophie's?! (Sophie's is the pink one). :)

Emma's new requested hair style; "a tail tucked under". What happened to wiggies?!
Emma decided to share a cup of java with us this morning. I'm starting to think that she has been to the Starbuck's drive thru with us one to many times?! (ha-ha). She takes hers with 90% cream and 10% coffee.
Sophie playing with her lamb from Lao-Lao.
And, of course Emma had to go find hers. Do you notice what a mess my living room is?! OY!
My beautiful Emma at the zoo. It seems like my "baby" has grown up by a full year over the past 2 weeks! She chose her own outfit and hair style this afternoon.
Petting the goat...both of the girls like the Asian Petting Zoo section. Pooh is getting ready to mount the goat. (I saved the goat just in time....).
I loved the way that Emma was taking care of Pooh...so sweet!NO MORE PICTURES MOMMY!!!!!!
I was very proud of Sophie on the "horse". She is not a natural Equestrian like her big sis so she was frightend to sit up there...but she did it and even smiled for me! :)It's Pooh's turn! Here are a few shots of Emma "milking" the cow...she walked over all by herself.

The girls got a big kick out of walking over the bridge????

My girls were getting a little bit tired at this point. We made them WALK the entire time today! Checking out the huge Koi fish....
Making music with Johnny Cash after bathtime....
"Sisters just hanging out". :)

Baseball & Washing the Cars

We took Emma & Sophie to a "Wichita Wingnuts" baseball game on Friday night. It's our local minor league team. Emma loved attending the games last year so we thought that the girls would enjoy it. It's really a pretty fun time and an affordable family outing. The girls were good taking into account that it was a 7:05 PM game and that is normally the time that they are going to bed. (Note: We will be attending Sunday afternoon games in the future). They liked the hot pretzels but were disappointed that more mascots were not there, Emma kept asking where The Jayhawk went.

It has been *HOT* here. Today it was 102 degrees. :) I took the girls to the pool on Thursday and Saturday, and today the 4 of us went for a little while after lunch. With her life jacket and swim ring Emma is growing quite brave, Sophie is only happy if somebody is carrying her around the pool. After the pool grew too crowded for our taste we walked home and decided to wash our cars. Two of our neighbors Matthew and Aaron came down to hang out and the girls enjoyed playing with them. Sophie is still most comfortable observing other children while Emma is slowly learning how to interact with her peers. Emma is apprehensive to talk to other children, but she does excitedly say "Hi" when other kids are around! :) Our Neuro Psyc commented that when we first started seeing him Emma was like a 2 year old across the board...now less than 6 months later she has matured to a 3-4 year old level. She has definitely exceeded our expectations. :)
(Naughty Emma caught on film spraying the neighbor boy in the face with the hose)!

*The Pool Babes*

The girls have really enjoyed playing at the pool so far this summer. They are both hesitant in the water but that will hopefully improve in a few weeks! I just thought that they looked too cute in their suits not to take a picture today! :) As you can see they gave me the fake cheesey smiles so that I would just put down the camera and take them to play!

Christmas in June?

Since my last post was all about Emma I thought that today it should be Sophie's turn:

I gave her hair a little trim on Tuesday. It is growing in nicely and getting thicker! You can't really tell from the pictures but I evened out her bangs and took off the circa 1986 points growing over her ears. I am hoping that I will be able to take her for a real haircut this fall, she does not have enough hair for that just yet! :)

Sophie's TRUE personality is starting to show through and it is STRONG! She is still very sweet and compliant a lot of the time. Yet, she can be VERY stubborn and manipulative! Of course she does not understand what manipulation means since she is only 2 1/2 years old...but she knows how to do it anyway. She cries dramatically over the smallest things and tries to play Greg and I against one another. If she does not get her way in a store she will cry and look at all of the strangers as if she is trying to get their attention..she is actually quite smart. :) And, it's even FUNNY when we are not feeling annoyed. ;)

She is continuing to learn new words in English, mostly through repeating what she hears us say. Her receptive language is definitely improving. She still speaks Cantonese too and kind of mixes it with English words sometimes. We met a lady at Panera that spoke Cantonese; I gave her permission to "talk" to Sophie. Sophie looked a little bit confused but did answer "yeah" to two of her questions! :) There are different dialects of Cantonese but it seemed like she understood what this lady was saying?

Sophie likes to "pose" for the camera as you can see from the pictures below:

My Mom "LAO- LAO" gave a music box to Emma for Christmas and bought one for Sophie as well. (We were hoping at the time that she'd be HOME for Chirstmas)! Emma was playing with her music box the other day so I brought Sophie's out and let her open it...I was really just waiting for the right time to present it to her. I assume that Sophie was intently watching Emma open up her birthday presents last month because she knew EXACTLY what to do! :P

PS: "THANKS LAO-LAO"!!! :)

Visiting the Zoo

The girls & I went to the zoo one day last week. We purchase a yearly membership & live less than 1O minutes away so we try to visit at least once a week. For whatever reason both Emma and Sophie elected to ride in the stroller during the entire visit. You'll see the trend via the pictures below! :) I got a good work out pushing them around but I was disappointed that they were not interested in walking around and seeing more of the animals. UGH! I guess that the next time I need to make sure that they have a lot of energy to burn off before we decide to go! (Or leave the stroller in the car...).

At this moment I caught on that they were NOT going to be getting out of the stroller:
