Local Celebrity

If you go back a couple of posts you will read all about Emma's questions about the Easter bunny.
Emma was on the local news last night for about 2 seconds!
AND, if you look closely at this picture you will see that Emma is looking RIGHT INTO THE MOUTH OF THE BUNNY!

First Easter Egg Hunt

Today we took Emma and Sophie to their very first Easter Egg Hunt. Honestly they were not really ready to attend one until this year so I'm glad that we waited. The Easter Bunny was even there! Emma has always loved him...Sophie not so much. When she met him at Walmart 2 years ago she screamed her head off as soon as we got near him...LOL! :) However, she did GREAT this time.

Emma has always been very observant. I mean VERY!! As she hugged the Easter Bunny today she kept looking in his mouth...even trying to gently pry it open at one point. We realized WHY after the egg hunt had ended. Emma said "MOMMY? WHY IS THERE A LADY IN THAT COSTUME"?! : P

Greg & I almost burst out laughing. We explained to the girls that the Easter Bunny is VERY busy, especially on the night before Easter. So, people dress up in costumes for fun and to make kids happy. I asked the girls "Does that make sense"? Emma said "NO". :)

The egg hunt was at the zoo so we hung around for a little while afterwards. We bumped into our pals, The Ewings and we even got to see a sheep shaved. (Really)!

Sophie was exhausted and went to sleep IMMEDIATELY tonight. She actually asked us to stop talking so that she could go to sleep!

Emma...well, she is still up. She is insistant on meeting the real Easter Bunny, giving him a hug and telling him thank you for her basket. LOL.

I did not get really good pictures today. But, here they are for your viewing enjoyment:

Our Most Recent Book Order

I try to limit how many times we order books from school. We get order forms sent home ALL OF THE TIME. Emma and Sophie LOVE books-which is awesome! But, we have SO MANY. And, we end up donating a ton every year or two. But, when I saw *these* books on Emma's order form I could not pass it up:

Coloring Easter Eggs

My two dearest peeps and I colored Easter eggs today.
I  boiled the eggs, set up the table, & mixed the dye tabs.
Emma and Sophie did the rest ALL by themselves (almost)!
They did a VERY good job. :)
My babies are getting TOO big!

A Huge Step!!!

I received the BEST email ever yesterday from Emma's Special Education teacher, Mrs. Donahue:

I didn’t get to witness it…but Jen (Emma's Para) said that when they got to PE today, Emma did her running warm-up and exercises without any support or prompting (for the 1st time), she was smiling and saying hi to coach…and smiling at the other kids. And that’s not even the best part! They played tag today and Emma got to be the “tagger”. She played tag WITHOUT JEN or anyone else helping her. She was interacting with the other kids…smiling and tagging and running around!! Hooray Emma! Everyone was so proud of her.

To say that Greg and I are proud of Emma is an understatement. This is such a HUGE step for Emma. It gives positive hope for her future. Emma will ALWAYS have autism...but, she is proving that it will NOT define WHO she is.

Emma is now taking a cocktail of 3 medications every day. It is not ideal by any means, but obviously it is working!

Mini Martha Stewarts.......

Emma and Sophie STILL love sitting down together to do crafts.
Hmmmmmm, perhaps I ought to teach them how to make
wreaths or pillows and make a lil' money
off of this.
(I am only kidding).
Do they look like live little dollies in their dresses & hair styles?!
I love them so much.
